Planet Georgetown

                                            

General Information

 

Planet Georgetown invites students in years 9, 10, 11 and 12 of high school to explore the world of today in order to shape the world of tomorrow. Planet Georgetown is a year-long initiative dedicated to helping local high school students prosper in their current academic setting to prepare them to become successful university students and lifelong learners.

Planet Georgetown provides students with enriching workshops and growth opportunities throughout the year. The program is comprised of once-a-month interactive workshops as well as a week long after school program in the spring, all geared towards personal and academic skills building.

Past workshop themes include: leadership development, current event analysis, goal setting & time management & more. Skills covered in the after school program are critical thinking, analysis, research, public speaking, debate and more!

The Planet Georgetown program is free of cost for all high school students in Qatar. Students receive a certificate of participation for each workshop that they attend.

Time Management and Goal Setting

College Application Skills

  • November 5, 2016

Model United Nations Training Day

  • November 26, 2016
  • 9am - 4pm at Georgetown University
  • Please note that this workshop is only open for students whose schools don't have a MUN club already attending the MUN training day.  Students, if your school does have a MUN club attending the training day, you must sign up with your school, not with the Planet Georgetown workshop.

Leadership Development

  • January 21, 2017
  • 12pm - 4pm at Georgetown University

Planet Georgetown After School Program

  • March 19 - 23, 2017
  • 3pm - 6pm daily at Georgetown University
  • Due to the large number of registrants, the sign up period for this program is now closed.  We are unable to accept additional students.
  • By the end of the week-long program, students will be able to better understand the world around them, as well as come up with potential solutions for today's issues.  Skills covered in the program include critical thinking, analysis, research, public speaking, debate and more. The program helps students develop skills that can help them succeed in their current high school setting and introduces them to what it's like to be a university student.  Students will learn more about international issues & conflicts, as well as to how they are trying to be resolved by the international community.
  • All students will get an email a few weeks before the program asking them to reconfirm that they will be attending.  If students don't respond to this email, they will be unable to attend the program.
