Information for Counselors

The Georgetown University in Qatar Office of Admissions is pleased to work in partnership with school counselors throughout the year. We hope that the information provided below will help you assist your students throughout the application process. You will find important information about applying including our admissions and financial aid policies, timelines, high school preparation guidelines, and the many resources and opportunities at Georgetown. Please note:
A personal interview and controlled writing exercise may be required. The Office of Admissions will contact applicants should they be required.

The Admissions Committee aims to release decisions by April 15th, and students have until May 10th to submit their enrollment agreement and non-refundable deposit to reserve a place in the incoming class.

Our online application form opens in early September, and is due by February 1st. Students who submit the application form by December 31st will have their $65/QR 250 application fee waived. No additional documentation is required in order to submit the application form. All supporting documents are then due by March 1st. 


Our application includes online forms for teacher and counselor reports which are automatically sent once the applicant enters you as a recommender. While we do have paper based forms, our preferred way to receive counselor and teacher reports is through our online application. We require that students request express permission from our office to submit paper based forms. 


Georgetown University in Qatar offers many types of programs to engage both counselors and students. We conduct school visits both in person and through webinar, and we also are happy to host students on our campus. If you as a counselor are interested in one of these, please submit this form.

The Office of Admissions does not make decisions regarding how much credit is granted to students for advanced/transfer credit. After decisions are released, the Office of Admissions forwards transcripts of admitted students to the Office of Academic Affairs for review, at which point the Office of Academic Affairs will determine how much advanced/transfer credit students will receive. General guidance regarding advanced and transfer credit can be found in the undergraduate bulletin.

The most common advanced credit score minimums are:

  • AS/A Levels - requires minimum C 
  • AP - requires minimum 4 or 5 
  • IB - requires HL scores minimum 6 or 7
  • French Bacalaureat - minimum 10
