Health & Wellness
Our students Health & Wellness is a vital part of creating the School of Foreign Service in Qatar community. Georgetown's commitment to educating the whole person extends to providing services and facilities for personal fitness, athletics, health care and counseling. Recreational facilities can be found at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Center located on campus.
International Students
Since its founding in 1919, the School of Foreign Service has drawn students from around the globe. Today, over 130 nationalities are represented in the Georgetown community - and over two dozen alone SFS-Qatar.
For students already at SFS-Qatar wishing to travel abroad please use the following form. Please submit the Single Exit Permit Visa Application form and your passport to Benjamin Shaw, no less than five days before travel outside of Qatar.
Student Safety
Every precaution is made to make sure that all students on the Education City campus are safe and healthy. Student Safety is of the utmost importance to every at SFS-Qatar and Qatar Foundation. There is 24-hour security provided on the Education City campus as well as in each student apartment complex. In addition to these measures, there is an ambulance service located on campus as well as a clinic.
Career Development
Students have the opportunity to work on and off campus during their time at SFS-Qatar. These positions can be found in the Career Development section under On-Campus Employment Program.
The Writing and Learning Center
Assistance and tutoring is available for all students at SFS-Qatar through the Writing and Learning Center. The Center is located in the SFS-Qatar library and helps students with study skills, paper writing and general academic assistance.
On Campus Parking Information
For students who wish to apply for an on campus parking permit, please follow the steps listed below.
- Fill out Part1 and Part 2 of the parking form
- Attach copies of:
- The driver's license of whoever will be operating the vehicle (e.g., the student, parent, the driver, etc.)
- The student's Qatar ID (or passport)
- The registration for the vehicle
- The driver's license of whoever will be operating the vehicle (e.g., the student, parent, the driver, etc.)
- After all of the above-mentioned documents have been gathered, place all documents in Student Affairs Officer, Benjamin Shaw's mailbox.

- SFS-Qatar Students Receive UREP Grants
Three students from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar were awarded research grants in the latest round of funding from the Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP). (June 29, 2009) - SFS-Qatar Sets the Stage for Summer with Planet Georgetown Program
Later this month, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Qatar) will host its second annual Planet Georgetown summer enrichment series for youth from local independent schools throughout Qatar. (June 19, 2009) - Mehran Kamrava Appointed Interim Dean at SFS-Qatar
Georgetown has named Mehran Kamrava as interim dean at SFS-Qatar. Starting August 1, Kamrava will succeed the current SFS-Qatar Dean James Reardon-Anderson, who will return to Main Campus in Washington, DC. (June 16, 2009)
