SFS-Q alum Fatima Muneer takes part as panelist at the 9th Al Jazeera Forum

Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (SFS-Q) alum Fatima Muneer (SFS-Q ‘2011) was nominated by the World Economic Forum as a Global Media Catalyst along with 16 others from around the world earlier this year which led to her invitation to attend the 9th Al Jazeera Forum as a panelist for the session titled “Global Media Talents,” moderated by Al Jazeera English’s news presenter, Kamahl Santamaria.

Muneer, who is a member of Global Shapers Community (GSC), was selected to present on the GSC initiative which is a network of city-based Hubs developed and led by young leaders between the ages of 20 to 30 who aim to develop their leadership potential toward serving society and who undertake local projects to improve their communities. They are selected on the basis of their achievements, leadership potential, and commitment to making a difference. Shapers are provided with opportunities to connect with the worldwide network of Global Shapers and to represent the voice of youth at World Economic Forum events.

During the session, Muneer spoke about the GSC efforts in nurturing and promoting media talents amongst its members.

Held on 4th, 5th and 6th of May 2015 in Doha, under the title “Conflict and Change in the Arab World,” the Al Jazeera Centre for Studies hosted the 9th Al Jazeera Forum to address the current developments and discuss the future of the region. The forum brings together political leaders, intellectuals, journalists, and civil society activists from over 50 countries to participate in the forum and is considered a platform that the Al Jazeera Network has launched to brainstorm and build bridges of dialogue among participants of all directions and perspectives.
