As the main academic partner, Georgetown University will be working with Josoor Institute to continue implementing a variety of programs and workshops developed by Georgetown’s industry-leading faculty on a wide spectrum topics associated with the sports and events industries. According to the newly signed agreement, the University, through both its School of Continuing Studies and the McDonough School of Business on Main Campus in Washington D.C., will lead the development, delivery, assessment and review of the diploma and certificate programs in Football and Sports Management.

Furthermore, Georgetown is set to lead the development of the Professional Diploma and Certificate modules for Managerial and Leadership Core Competencies on both Football and Sports Management and Events Management Programs. The modules will cover topics including business acumen, strategy, people and leadership, management communication, financial management and more.

Commenting on the importance of the partnership, Dr. Groves said, “We are so pleased that we are able to build on the strength and success of our initial agreement to design the academic framework for Josoor Institute. By developing the human capital needed for the growth of the sports and events industries, Georgetown can play a vital role in Qatar and the entire region’s efforts in moving towards a sustainable knowledge-based economy.”

Commenting on the agreement, Hassan Al Thawadi, the Secretary General of the SC, noted that, “The investments that the SC is making today in providing unique skills training to thousands of people through  Josoor Institute will create positive opportunities for generations to come. Georgetown University has been an integral partner in our drive to nurture the best local and international talent, and to build a thriving and sustainable future, in line with the Qatar National Vision. We are pleased to have reiterated our commitment towards capacity building by strengthening our ties with Georgetown.”
