Georgetown University Open House Welcomes Interested Students and Parents

Joseph Hernandez

Parents and future college students are invited to attend Georgetown University in Qatar’s (GU-Q) upcoming annual Admissions Open House for Fall 2014 enrollment, that will take place on Tuesday, November 25th, from 5pm – 7pm at Georgetown’s Education City campus in Doha. For students considering attending GU-Q, the Open House provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the university’s academic programs and offerings, student services, admissions requirements, financial aid, residence life, athletics, clubs and activities, and much more.

“Choosing a university is one of the most important decisions that a young person can make in determining the course of their future,” said Joseph Hernandez, Director of Admissions at GU-Q. “This also means that this is a stressful time, which is why we organize the Open House to answer the questions and concerns of prospective students and their families, and to share what it’s like to be a part of the prestigious Georgetown educational tradition.”

The Admissions Open House will begin with refreshments and a welcome address, followed by presentations by staff and faculty to provide a detailed guide to the admissions process, an exploration of student life, such as sports, clubs, and campus activities, and other important facets of a Georgetown education.

This year’s Open House will also include an overview of the newest curriculum offerings and programs following a recent school-wide expansion. Interested students can learn more about the four-year liberal arts majors in International Politics, International Economics, International History and Culture & Politics Georgetown offers, which sets GU-Q’s International Relations education apart from other schools in Qatar, and the entire region.

Going well beyond the admissions process, the Open House will also provide an overview of career prospects following graduation, and the life-long career development support and learning opportunities available to alumni, a longstanding Georgetown tradition. Prospective students will also have an opportunity to meet current students and alumni who will share personal insights of their experience as students at GU-Q, and about joining the workforce following graduation.

Students and parents will have the opportunity to talk to other representatives of the Georgetown community, including faculty, staff, and admissions officers, to explore financial aid opportunities and learn more about the academic services offered to students. The event will conclude with a tour of Georgetown’s state-of-the-art campus.

The Open House is free and open to the public. Though registration is not required, students are highly encouraged to register for the event by visiting the following link:
