Georgetown to provide Qatar Foundation employees skills training through newly signed agreement

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) and Qatar Foundation (QF) sign a cooperative agreement that brings together the two institutions in an effort to provide skills training for QF staff at the university’s Education City campus.

Signed on April 6, 2016, the Talent Training Agreement launches the joint effort to develop resources and training for high potential QF employees. The agreement was signed by Mr. Ahmed Al-Muftah, Executive Director, Human Capital; on behalf of QF, and by Dean Gerd Nonneman, representing GU-Q.

“For Qatar, having Georgetown located right here in Doha brings opportunities for human capital development well beyond our core mission of educating the best and brightest young students,” said Dean Nonneman. “Not only do our skilled alumni feed into the labor pool to strengthen the drive towards a knowledge-based economy, but our high-caliber faculty, staff and in-house specialist resource, mean we can contribute to skills training at all levels, to increase capabilities and enhance professional skills. With this agreement, we look forward to contributing to Qatar Foundation’s path-breaking efforts to build the human resources that Qatar and the region will need in the 21st century.”

Also in attendance at the signing ceremony representing QF was Ms. Hind Al-Sada, Head of Employee Development, Human Capital; and Ms. Omneya Negm, Academic Affairs Coordinator, Human Capital.

From GU-Q, representatives included Amol Dani, Chief Operating Officer, and Veronica Donahue, Associate Dean for Continuing & Executive Education.

The Training Agreement will also include a commitment from the Georgetown University in Qatar to conduct periodic assessments of trainees and provide QF with written reports, as detailed in the Training Plan. The initial period of time for the agreement is three years, with the option to renew at that time.
