Why SFS-Q?

Quintessentially Georgetown, SFS-Q additionally benefits from a location within easy reach of the wider Middle East, the Indian Ocean region, Asia, Africa and Europe; from an exceptional cosmopolitan diversity (currently our students include 44 nationalities); from a stunning, spacious campus building and facilities, including the best library in the country; and from the vision of Qatar’s leadership in investing hugely and thoughtfully in education and research (including a firm commitment to invest 2.8% of GDP in research alone). Faculty and students of one world-class university rub shoulders with those of another seven, our neighbours in Education City (including Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, Texas A&M, Virginia Commonwealth, Weill Cornell, HEC Paris, and University College London).

You will find yourself in a lively, open-minded and welcoming environment bound to motivate and inspire. You will be contributing to the future of people in the region and worldwide, helping shape global leaders across the private and public sector and reaching out to local, regional and global society.

SFS-Q serves as a bridge between academic communities in the United States, the Gulf and the wider Middle East, and increasingly those of the Indian Ocean region, Asia, Africa and Europe. It does so across the spectrum of the social sciences, economics and humanities taught and researched here as part of the “Liberal Arts” approach underpinning our focus on international affairs. http://qatar.sfs.georgetown.edu/about/global/

We provide generous research and conference travel support. SFS-Q Faculty are also eligible to apply for Qatar National Research Fund’s competitive ‘national Priorities’ grants for up to $1,050,000 over three years. QNRF also offers competitive research grants for early-career scholars. (http://www.qnrf.org/).

Compensation and expatriate benefits packages are extremely competitive, including e.g. free high-quality housing, health insurance, children’s school fees, and transportation allowance: it is no accident that we have acquired a reputation as one of the best employers in the region!

We look forward to receiving your application: http://qatar.sfs.georgetown.edu/grow/.
