Focus on Faculty: Joseph Sitterson
Meet Joseph Sitterson, Professor in the English Department of Georgetown University and a member of the SFS-Qatar faculty since Fall, 2006. Professor Sitterson, an expert in British Romantic literature, literary theory, the epic and biblical interpretation, teaches Humanities and Writing, a course taken by every first-year student, and has also taught British poetry and fiction. He and his wife, Professor Lisa Nanney, helped create SFS-Qatar’s original Certificate in American Studies. He is returning to the U.S. after the Fall 2007 semester; he and Professor Nanney both hope to return in the Spring of 2009, to teach and to see the SFS-Q Class of 2009 graduate. In the meantime, they will remember most of all, and miss, their wonderful students. As faculty chair for the past year Joe considers his primary contribution to the rapid and ongoing growth of SFS-Q to have been his work with the administration in creating and clarifying policies and procedures relevant to faculty teaching and research.
