School of Foreign Service Core Curriculum Requirements
The School of Foreign Service's interdisciplinary core curriculum consists of the following requirements:
- Proseminar (INAF 100)
- Two Philosophy courses
- Political & Social Thought (PHIL 099)
- A second course offered by the Philosophy Department
- Two Theology courses
- The Problem of God (THEO 001), Introduction to Biblical Literature (THEO 011), or History of Asian Civilization (HIST 120 or 121)
- A second course offered by the Theology Deptartment or History of Asian Civilization (HIST 120 or 121)
- Two Humanities and Writing courses
- Critical Writing for International Affairs (ENFL 114) or Critical Reading and Writing (HUMW 011)

A second course approved for the Humanities and Writing requirement
- Two Government courses
- Introduction to International Relations (GOVT 006)
- Comparative Political Systems (GOVT 121)
- Three History courses
- World History (HIST 001 or 002), History of the Atlantic World (HIST 003), or Themes in European Civilization (HIST 033 or 034)
- An approved Regional History I
- An approved Regional History II
- Four Economics courses
- Principles of Microeconomic (ECON 001)
- Principles of Macroeconomic (ECON 002)
- International Trade (ECON 243)
- International Finance (ECON 244)
- Map of the Modern World (INAF 008)
- Proficiency in a Modern Foreign Language

Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar just concluded the Georgetown Pre-College Series (GPS) which gave prospective undergraduates a taste of college life and a unique opportunity to gain valuable information on the admissions process. On November 13 and 14, Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Qatar) and Institute for the Study of Diplomacy (ISD) hosted a crisis simulation exercise for students at Education City. (November 22, 2009) - Student Gets Education at International Finance Conference
This October, Georgetown student Miodrag Stamboldziev (SFS ’11) was able to put his international relations education to use while attending the Annual Meeting of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Istanbul, Turkey. (November 08, 2009)
