Welcome new faculty and staff
Welcome to SFSQ!
Your office computer should be available in your office. In order to get started using SFSQ services such as GUMail, GUQCalendar and GUQShare for file sharing, please take the following steps:
- Complete the “NetID Password Reset” https://guqshare.qatar.georgetown.edu/xythoswfs/webui/_xy-151708_2-tid_t_mjYg8KI9
- If you do not know your NetID, please stop by SFSQ Human Resources and they will assist you.
- Bring the form along with a photo ID card to the OIT service desk (second floor, LAS). One of the IT staff will:
- Initiate the password for your NetID (both new and continuing Georgetown employees)
- Instruct you on how to change the password. Be prepared to select a strong password. For details, please see http://security.georgetown.edu/8910.html
- In order to access the Georgetown network, you are required to logon to the Georgetown VPN. "If you are using your Georgetown-issued computer, when you turn it on you will be prompted to logon to the Cisco VPN client before signing onto Windows." You will logon with your NetID and NetID password.

- If you are a new Georgetown University employee:
For GUMail access, the first step is to set your e-mail routing:- Go to https://netid-mgmt.georgetown.edu/mailrouting/
- Select the button that says “Change entry”
- Follow the instructions on the page to set your routing. For more detailed information about e-mail routing please see http://uis.georgetown.edu/email/settingupaccounts/delivery.html
- Select the button at the bottom of the page “Submit Changes”
- You are now ready to log into e-mail. On your computer desktop, double-click on the icon for “Mozilla Thunderbird”.
- Log in with your NetID and NetID password.
- You will find additional information about managing your GUMail account at http://uis.georgetown.edu/email/managingaccounts/index.html
- You can also log into your e-mail from any browsers by going to: http://imap.georgetown.edu
- For GUQCalendar access:
- To activate GUQCalendar, go to:
http://qatar.sfs.georgetown.edu/about/departments/IT/facultystaff/calendars/38534.html and select the link for "enable your account". You will be asked for your NetID and NetID login. Once you sign in, click the button that says "Enable GUQCalendar". Then you will be able to sign in your NetID. - Open the GUQCalendar client using the icon on your desktop. Log in to calendar the using your NetID and NetID password. Select Tools > Options > General > Time Zones and set the time zone to “UTC-3”.

- Georgetown University in Qatar Offers Pre-College Series to Hoya Hopefuls
Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar just concluded the Georgetown Pre-College Series (GPS) which gave prospective undergraduates a taste of college life and a unique opportunity to gain valuable information on the admissions process. This October, Georgetown student Miodrag Stamboldziev (SFS ’11) was able to put his international relations education to use while attending the Annual Meeting of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Istanbul, Turkey. (November 08, 2009)
