Police Clearances
In most cases, if you are already in Doha, obtaining a police clearance can be as simple as visiting your nation's embassy in Qatar and filling out the required paperwork there. To aid you in this process, we have more thoroughly outlined the requirements below, based on your nationality:

Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for the United States
If you are outside of the United States, an FBI Identification Record or Criminal History Record is required. In order to obtain your record, you must do the following:
1. Complete cover letter.
• If for a couple, family, etc., all persons must sign cover letter
• Include your complete mailing address
• If you have a deadline (e.g., an immigration deadline), please include the deadline in your cover letter and on the outside of the envelope.
2. Obtain proof of identity, which consists of a set of your fingerprints
(original card, no copies), with your name, date of birth and place of
birth. Fingerprints should be placed on a standard fingerprint form
(FD-258) commonly used for applicant or law enforcement purposes. This can be completed in the US Embassy.
3. Include $ 18 - U.S. dollars in the form of a money order, certified check
made payable to the Treasury of the United States, or you may pay by
credit card
4. Mail the items #1, #2, #3 (listed above) to the following address:

1. Obtain a Criminal Records Check report from your local police department. The document will be signed and stamped by the police officer who carries out the records search. Ensure the officer prints their name and badge number so that it is legible.
In some cases you may be required to submit fingerprints with your application. If that is the case, the following RCMP web site link provides instructions. http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca//crimrec/finger2_e.htm
2. The signed report must be notarized by a Notary Public.
3. Submit the notarized document in person or by courier to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) for authentication.
4. Submit the authenticated document in person or by courier to the US Department of State at the US Embassy in Ottawa for authentication of the signature obtained at DFAIT.
5. The document and attached authentications must now be sent to the Georgetown University SFS-Q office in Washington. The Washington office will then:
a. Submit the document to the US Department of State office in Washington for authentication of the signature obtained at the US Embassy in Ottawa
b. Submit the final authentication package to the Qatar Embassy in
Washington for their signature and stamp.
Canadians residing in Ottawa may take the Criminal Records Check obtained from the Ottawa Police Department directly in person to DFAIT. The office is located in the Lester B. Pearson Building located on Sussex Drive.
Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Indonesia
In order to receive a police clearance, you will need to go the Embassy of Indonesia with the following:
• Your passport
• A copy of your Residence Permit
• 1 passport-sized photograph
• QR 55

Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Morocco
In Morocco, a police clearance certificate can only be requested from the police office of the applicant's residence district. It is usually issued within 48 hours. For the police certificate to be valid in Qatar, it needs to be notarized by the embassy of the State of Qatar in Rabat (Hassan Area- near Marjane), or by the Moroccan embassy in Doha (Across from City Center).
In either case, the clearance has first to be notarized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rabat, Morocco (Hassan Area - near Hotel Sofitel Diwan). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (notarization office) is very close to the Qatar Embassy (5 minutes walking).
If a police clearance is not notarized by Foreign Affairs in Morocco, the Moroccan Embassy in Doha can provide a certified "copy" with an embassy stamp.
Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for India
If the person has a residence permit in Qatar, then he/she can go to
the embassy with the following documents:
1) Passport
2) Two passport photographs
3) Police Clearance Form
4) 76 Qrls
It is a two day affair, and if s/he submits it in the morning, s/he can
pick it up the next day in the afternoon.
If the person does not have a Residence Permit from Qatar and is being
brought from India, then s/he could do the necessary formalities in
India itself at a Police Department.
Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Philippines
It is a prerequisite for Filipino worker who is intending to work abroad to
secure an NBI clearance (National Bureau of Investigation), the local counterpart of CIED, Qatar, before proceeding to any other formalities.
In the Philippines securing NBI is a common knowledge to everyone, but if the person is already in Doha, he must first secure a fingerprint form
from the Philippine Embassy and proceed to CIED for his fingerprinting.
This form with his/her fingerprint taken from the CIED office will be submitted to the Philippine Embassy for authentication. Embassy authentication is a must before sending it to his /her family who will then submit it to the NBI in the Philippines. As soon as the NBI issued the clearance, his/her family will return it back to Qatar by mail or email.
Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Malaysia

Requirements:
-2 copies of application with 2 recent passport size photos.
-2 photocopies of identity card
-2 photocopies of passport (front and back pages for Malaysian citizens)
- They may require that the passport is valid for a certain number of months before submitting application - please check with the office.
-Process fee: Approximately QR 35 but check beforehand with office
Processing period is 1 to 2 months from date of submission. Letter will be sent to Consular Office and you will be contacted for pick-up.
Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Egypt
1. Get the Egyptian police clearance from Cairo. This can be done at most police stations in Cairo. The applicant needs to have two passport-sized photos and his/her Egyptian ID. It usually takes 24-48 hours to pick it up, and there is a very minimal fee (in December 2007 it was for LE 6).
2. The Egyptian police clearance needs to be authenticated/stamped at the Egyptian Embassy here in Doha. The embassy is in the Embassy area in West Bay.
3. The Qatari Foreign Ministry then stamps after the embassy's stamp. Their offices are in the Ras Abu Aboud area not far from the Old Movenpick.
4. Once you get all the stamps, then you can take the clearance to the Qatari Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to get the Qatari clearance. This takes about two weeks to come out.
Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Sri Lanka
In order to receive a police clearance, you will need to go the Embassy of Sri Lanka with the following:
• Your passport
• Your contract of employment
• A copy of your Residence Permit
• 2 passport-sized photographs
• QR 60
• A request letter from your employer

Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Syria
Syrian nationals will need to contact the Syrian Embassy directly for instructions on how to get a police clearance.

Police Clearance/Criminal Records Process for Zimbabwe
You will need to arrange through a courier company for them to collect an original Police Clearance Form from the Zimbabwe Embassy in Kuwait (please download embassy details here).
The embassy is open Sunday through Thursday from 9AM to 2PM.
The cost of the Police Clearance Form is 2KD.
You will need to complete the form and send it to a local police station in your home country. Please note that a relative in your home country can do this on your behalf.
