Research Assistants (Other than Undergraduate Students)
Hiring Procedures
If no undergraduate student is appropriate as a research assistant, faculty may recruit and choose their own research assistant, with the approval of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Funding for research assistant positions must be secured in advance of soliciting applications. Please consult the Policy on Hiring Research Assistants first.

Cover letter and CV
Independent Contractor Form
Copy of passport or other government issued document showing citizenship along with a picture ID
Copy of Qatari ID or visa page from passport (for non-Qataris only and only, if work is in Qatar)
US citizens & permanent residents only will have to complete the I-9 employment eligibility form, as well as submit completed federal and state tax withholding forms.
Confidentiality Agreement
Departmental Proof of Funding (Award letter, CSR copy, etc.)
Approval of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (email, memo, etc.)

The completed application documents must be submitted to SFS-Qatar Finance. No work can be started without the submission of all paperwork to Finance, including any hiring documents, as well as proof of funding. Georgetown University SFS-Qatar will not be liable for payment to individuals for any work done before the approval of completed hiring/contracting documentation.
If an undergraduate student might be appropriate as a research assistant, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Associate Dean of Student Affairs must be consulted first, and their approval is required. Only SFS-Qatar undergraduates may be research assistants in UREP-funded research activities or QF-funded work-study research activities.

Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar just concluded the Georgetown Pre-College Series (GPS) which gave prospective undergraduates a taste of college life and a unique opportunity to gain valuable information on the admissions process.
