Fall Semester
Returning Students:
The bill for the fall semester at Georgetown will be emailed as an Adobe Acrobat (pdf) file to returning students by the first week in July. Paper bills will be sent out the second week of July to the billing address on file. You may change your address at any time by emailing the SFS-Qatar Office of Finance and Business Services (SFS-Qatar Finance) at SFSQfinance@georgetown.edu.
New Students:
The bill for the fall semester at Georgetown will be distributed to new students in August during New Student Orientation.
All students will be required to complete and submit an Expected Funding Form, as well as sign a certification which declares the student personally responsible for all financial obligations to SFS-Qatar in case the expected funding does not materialize. Students will complete an expected funding form and submit this to Student Affairs by August 10 2008.
Full payment for all students is due on August 14th for the 2008 fall semester bill. This includes either direct payments (submitted to SFS-Qatar Finance but made payable to ‘Qatar Foundation’) or providing the SFS-Qatar Finance Department with proof of any scholarships, sponsorship or financial aid. If you do not settle your entire bill in this manner, you will be put on the Installment Payment Plan (see Financial Aid) for the remaining balance due.
Please check the amount of tuition to be sure it is correct - if you plan on changing your registration (adding or dropping courses) your bill will be updated with your registration action only if you are or plan to be a part-time student (and thus charged by the credit).
Tuition: Tuition for full-time course loads (12 or more credits) is billed per semester at a flat rate. Students taking less than 12 credits per semester will be charged per credit hour.
Student Activities Fee: This fee is mandatory every semester for any full-time student. Undergraduates are full time at 12 or more credits. If you are registered as a full-time student and plan to change your registration to part-time, these fees will not be removed until you do so.
Textbooks: All textbooks will be ordered for and distributed to students by Georgetown University. Students will be charged a flat fee each semester for textbook costs.
Room & Board On-campus: housing can be requested through the Qatar Foundation. They will bill students separately for these fees. There are no campus meal-plans. All student apartments have working kitchens, and the LAS cafeteria provides three meals per day Sunday through Thursday at reasonable prices (e.g. full-course lunch costs QR 11).
Student Health Insurance: Temporary health insurance is charged in the fall for a period of two months for new non-Qatari students who have recently relocated to Qatar. This period should cover the time it takes to get Qatari Resident Permits and Hamad Health Cards which will entitle students to use the national health care system free of charge. If you can show proof of current insurance which will cover you for this period, this fee will be waived.
Any spouse and dependent children (under age 21) of enrolled students are also eligible to enroll in StudentCare Plus Plan for an additional fee. Please be aware that any extra premiums for family coverage will be included on your student billing account.
If you are a new entering student, you will also be charged a Transcript fee and an Orientation fee. This is a one-time only fee.
Spring Semester
All Students
The bill for the spring semester at Georgetown will be handed out to students by the first week in December.
Any charges from the fall semester bill that are unpaid as of the first week in December will be rolled over into the spring semester bill. This will be listed at the top of the bill as the previous unpaid balance.
Note: You may not pre-register or register for Spring semester if more than $2,000 (QR 7,300) remains unsettled on your Fall semester bill.
Payment is due for all students in full by January 20th for the 2009 spring semester bill. If you do not settle your entire bill, you will be put on the Installment Payment Plan (see Financial Aid) for the remaining balance due.
