Contracts
As an integral part of the Office of Finance and Business Services, the SFS-Qatar Purchasing & Contracts Unit plans to pursue a strategy to migrate contracts from paper into a centralized contract repository and to the greatest extent use standardized contract terms and language. Protecting the University against litigation and liability is the primary motivation behind the contracts review requirement.
The objectives of the unit are to:
-
Assist departments in the processing of business contracts
-
Be the primary liaison between the Office of University Counsel and SFS-Qatar on contract matters
-
Co-ordinate contract formation and execution
-
Maintain a master file of all SFS-Qatar business contracts and related documents processed through the Purchasing & Contracts Unit
-
Provide advice on Contract Administration to Project coordinators
If you have questions about the contracts review policy, feel free to contact the SFS-Qatar Manager of Purchasing & Contracts.

Please fax or e-mail all contracts with the required forms (detailed below for each contract category) to the SFS-Qatar Manager of Purchasing & Contracts.
For the most current version of this process, as well as form and policies associated with this process, please visit the website of the Office of Finance and Business Services.
In an effort to reduce the amount of time required to execute contracts at the SFS-Qatar, we have developed a variety of standard contracts. The Office of University Counsel has approved these standard contracts. The Office of University Counsel must review and approve a non-standard contract as to legal form before execution.
The SFS-Qatar Purchasing & Contracts Unit maintains the signed original University document of record of all executed contracts.
Procurement of services will be pursuant to a written agreement. All contracts and agreements must bear the signature of an authorized agent of the University. When purchasing services, determine that an employee/employer relationship will not exist. If the services you require would result in an employer/employee relationship, you must hire the person through the Genesys personnel system, not the procurement system. Georgetown University cannot hire employees through the procurement process.
