Georgetown University Continues to Top List of International Relations Programs
Georgetown University continues to rank as the world’s best school to study International Relations at the Master’s level, according to the most recent rankings released by Foreign Policy magazine. The Georgetown Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program beat out its chief rivals in Washington, DC and the Ivy League for highest honors.
Conducted every two years, the survey asked more than 1,700 international relations faculty members at all American universities to list the top schools teaching International Relations.
In addition to its top-ranked Master’s program, Georgetown University’s Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) ranked fifth for undergraduate education in international relations, behind Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Stanford. Robert Gallucci, Dean of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, said that he believes the rankings affirm the strength of the Georgetown program.
“I think the rankings reflect the reputation the School of Foreign Service has earned for a curriculum that is both broad and deep in international studies, which in turn attracts the very best students from around the country and around the world,” he said.
The Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Qatar), established in 2005 in cooperation with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, offers the same undergraduate degree as on the Georgetown campus in Washington DC, taught by Georgetown faculty, to approximately 50 students selected each year from Qatar and the surrounding region. With the success of the undergraduate program, SFS-Qatar will explore options for the creation of a Master’s program also to be delivered in Qatar.
