Initial Step: (One – Two business days) Unit Head will prepare a Justification Form (word version here) and will email it to the HR Director at sfsqhr@georgetown.edu. Once this Justification Form is approved by the HR Director, Dean, and COO, the Sr. Human Resources Officer will arrange for a Position Description (PD) Interview with the Unit Head.
In some cases the request to hire may not be approved or alternative options may be presented to the department for consideration. Examples are as follows:
• Request for position does not meet staffing business plan as outlined in departmental manpower review.
• Determination that staffing resource may be better served in another capacity.
• Staffing resources could be shared with another department to maximize position/department efficiency.
In this situation, HR and the Department will review the request and discuss options for further consideration.
Step Two: (Two – Four business days) Based on the PD interview, the Sr. HR Officer will prepare a PD which outlines the key accountabilities, financial impact, interactions, and qualifications of the position. This PD will be provided to the Unit Head for review. After reviewing the PD, the Unit Head will sign and submit it to the Sr. HR Officer who will then evaluate the position.
Step Three: (One business day) Once the position has been evaluated and the appropriate corresponding grade and compensation level have been determined, HR will communicate the grade and salary information to the Unit Head. HR will also submit the PD and Justification Form to the Director of Planning and Compliance for budgetary approval.
Step Four: (One - Two business days) If authorized for hire, the Director will send the signed documents back to the Recruitment and Retention Officer who will begins the recruitment process by posting the position opening on the website.
At this point, the Hiring Department would be responsible for contacting the Facilities Director, SFS-Qatar Facilities Department to determine office/work station location. The Hiring Department would also need to complete an IT Equipment Request Form at this time.
Step Five: Once a candidate is identified and recommended for hire, the Recruitment and Retention Officer will submit a recruitment summary to the Dean, COO, and HR Director for final approval. Once approved, an offer will be made to the candidate.
