Dr. Alexis Antoniades is Visiting Assistant Professor at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Services in Qatar. He received a B.A. in Mathematics and in Economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2001 as a Fulbright Scholar, and a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in 2008. In 2001-2002, Antoniades worked as assistant economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York where he co-authored two papers on forecasting inflation and on developing an index for activity in the technology sector. The Bank now publishes this tech index monthly. Currently, he works on a model of international trade that endogenizes quality choice and markups. He also examines how firms set prices. This knowledge helps authorities design better monetary policies and helps evaluate currency unions. He also develops forecasting models for exchange rates. At SFS-Qatar, Antoniades teaches courses on international finance and money and banking.
