Application and Pre-Employment Trip
During your pre-employment trip to Doha, you will have the opportunity to visit the schools you are interested in. Please do two things prior to your visit:
- Tell Kevin Ferra which schools you would like to visit
- Fill out an application online (if available) and bring a hard copy of that application with you. That way, the staff will have prior knowledge of your child.
The following is a list of schools used most frequently by expatriates in Doha. The schools are arranged according to language of instruction/curriculum:

Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, ASD is an elementary, middle and secondary school that was founded in 1988 to serve the expatriate community and local students who intend to study in North America and Europe. ASD has effectively doubled in size in the past few years. The student body numbers nearly 1,500. While the largest group of students is American, students from more than 41 countries are enrolled, including Qatari students who account for 10% of the total enrollment.

Operating for more than 25 years, Doha College is a respected academic institution throughout the Gulf region. It is sponsored by the British Embassy, but its students come from more than 50 countries. British passport holders are heavily favored for admission and seats are in high demand. Students in the primary school must apply for admission to the upper school.

DESS is sponsored by the British Embassy, and British passport holders are favored for admission. It is well-respected academically and has long waiting lists.

Application Schedule:
Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Council of International Schools, Qatar Academy is located on the Education city campus and sponsored by the Qatar Foundation. It opened in 1996 and now has 1,400 students and the IB curriculum. Graduates of the secondary school are considered well-prepared.

Opening in 2006, CISD is a new international school that is conveniently located near Education City. It is part of a worldwide network of international schools, including 5 in the U.S. In Doha, the school is underwritten by Shell. Parents are generally enthusiastic about all aspects of CISD, the disadvantage being the underdevelopment of their upper grades.

Choueifat School in Doha is a member of the SABIS network of schools which was founded in Lebanon in 1886. Choueifat schools are known for their academic intensity, and graduates attend top universities around the world.

Founded to serve students who are waiting for seats in mainstream international schools, cedars provides both full-time education, auxiliary tutoring and test preparation. It has UK trained teachers. Many students attend Cedars for a “bridge” year while on a waiting list.
