SFS-Qatar Departmental Procedure
Information needed for completed hiring paperwork:
- Transaction form (complete with all required signatures)
- Copy of passport information page
- Tax Forms (if forms do not load, refresh the form page)

Students cannot begin working until this paper work is complete (See Below)
Special Regulations for Student Workers:
- Student employee can work no more than 20 hours a week for SFS-Qatar during the regular school year and 40 hours a week during the summer and winter breaks.
- Students hired must be in good academic standing.
- Unit heads must permit flexibility in the scheduling of student workers with respect to tests, papers or other class requirements.
- SFS-Qatar students must be given priority for positions within SFS-Qatar, but if no suitable SFS-Q student can be found, the position can be advertised to other Education City students at the discretion of the unit head.
Hiring Process:

Students need to complete hiring forms and collect the signatures of Academic Affairs (Dean Pedrick), Student Affairs (Dean Hill) and Dept. Head hiring this student.

Students need to bring completed forms back to Student Affairs (Nalani Still). Student Affairs will verify information and send original copy on to Finance.

Students cannot begin working/submitting timesheets until Finance has the completed hiring forms.
Weekly Timesheets/ Payment:

Students sign-in & sign-out on one department wide timesheet. Someone from your department will take the timesheet to Finance every week. Any discrenpancy in hours should go through the department designee.

Employee Override Form: If you work in more than one department you will fill out a department override form for your second department. This is similar to the old timesheet. The department designee will have these forms. Do not take them out of the department, they are to remain with the designee.

Supervisor of student worker(s) needs to sign weekly department timesheet before it is submitted to Ivan.

Department designee, not students, are to bring the weekly timesheet to Finance.

Sunday is payday. Students come to their "primary" Department to collect their check

Termination Forms: please complete and send to Student Affairs to verify change in student work status.

All student workers are officially terminated at the end of the Spring Semester. They will have to submit new paperwork for summer employment.

- SFS-Qatar Students Receive UREP Grants
Three students from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar were awarded research grants in the latest round of funding from the Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP). (June 29, 2009) - SFS-Qatar Sets the Stage for Summer with Planet Georgetown Program
Later this month, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Qatar) will host its second annual Planet Georgetown summer enrichment series for youth from local independent schools throughout Qatar. (June 19, 2009) - Mehran Kamrava Appointed Interim Dean at SFS-Qatar
Georgetown has named Mehran Kamrava as interim dean at SFS-Qatar. Starting August 1, Kamrava will succeed the current SFS-Qatar Dean James Reardon-Anderson, who will return to Main Campus in Washington, DC. (June 16, 2009)
