Application Checklist

In order to be considered for admission to the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar for the 2010-2011 academic year, applicants must submit by March 1, 2010, all of the following items.  Please click on the links of items 1, 4, and 5 for downloadable, printable forms. (Note: The updated online application will be available soon; please email us of your interest so that we can alert you as soon as possible once it is ready.  In the meantine, the downloadable First Year Application for Admission will help you plan for the online application.)

  1. First Year Application for Admission
  2. Personal statement* ("Essay One")
  3. Essay* on a current global issue ("Essay Two") 
  4. Secondary school transcript/report (transcript should be for most recent three years of high school, including any grades for current year)
  5. Teacher's report
  6. TOEFL or IELTS results - TOEFL Institutional Code is 8750   Note: applicants who score 600 or above on both the critical reading and writing sections of the SAT (26 or above on both the English and reading sections of the ACT) are not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Please contact the Admissions Office with any questions.
  7. SAT I or ACT results-
    • SAT Institutional Code is 4563
    • ACT Institutional Code is 0669
    • Qatar Foundation provides a test schedule for all on-site testing. For registration and updated information on all tests in all locations, please visit the testing agencies' respective websites: TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT.)
  8. Photocopy of passport data page(s)
  9. 250QR [$65] non-refundable application fee by check or money order, made out to Georgetown University [online applicants may pay by credit card. No cash acceptedNote: We will waive the application fee for those applicants who submit complete, online applications by 1 February 2010.
  10. Preferred but not required: SAT II results on 3 subject tests
  11. Official transcript of university or foundation program, for those applicants who have enrolled in a post-secondary program

Please note:

  • All of the above should be original documents or official copies from the issuing organization.
  • Official English translations are also required, if original documents are not in English.
  • All documents submitted with the application become the property of Georgetown University and cannot be returned to the applicant.
  • It is strongly recommended that all of the above items be submitted together as one package, if at all possible.
