Marlene B. Canlas is Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Qatar. She holds two Masters degrees from the George Washington University – an MA in International Affairs and an MPH in Global Health Policy. While in graduate school, she focused on the study of health as a security issue, on the unique challenges facing health care delivery in insecure or conflict environments, and on new methodologies for using health care programming to promote peace. Dean Canlas joins the SFS-Q faculty after four years on Georgetown’s Main Campus where she served as an Academic Counselor in the Georgetown College Dean’s Office. Prior to that, she worked for the Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation within the US Agency for International Development. Dean Canlas is a proud graduate of the Georgetown BSFS Program, Class of 2001.
